Being Kind or showing Kindness, we have heard those words so much but do we really know what it means to be kind?
Kind– of a good or benevolent nature or disposition,as a person, considerate, or helpful, mild, gentle and loving affectionate.
A sympathetic attitude toward others, anda willingness to do good or give pleasure.
Kindness– the state or quality of being kind.
For one little word it has such strong meaning.
I read this today: Always be kinder than you feel!
Lets face it, there are days when we are so burdened by our own situations that are weighing us down and trying to steal our joy that kindness towards others is so far off of our radar.
We are in the mindset of “what about me, I need kindness towards me from someone else” and being kind to anyone else is just not gonna happen today.
It’s part of our nature some might say but if you have the Almighty God on the inside of you, you now have His nature in you.
Yes, you have no excuse not to be kind because you just don’t feel like it.
Could you ever imagine God saying this to you when you asked for something in prayer- Im just not taking any more request today, try back tomorrow, I had a long day and my kindness meter is all full.
Never right? God is a good God filled with kindness and mercy that springs forth fresh every morning for us.
Psalm 36:7 How precious is Your loving kindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.
I remember a story about a child falling at a park and getting hurt and a person ran up to them and asked them if they we ok, that was kind, but when their Mom got to them and cradled them and kissed their boo boo and held them tightly that was loving- kindness.
That’s the love of our God towards us each and everyday, no matter how busy or how many kids He’s taking care of.
So we are to be Jesus in the flesh, His ambassadors on this earth. Sometimes we might be the only Jesus someone see’s.
Today lets make it a point to be kind to others, even the ones we live with under our own roof, our family which can be the toughest test of our kindness.
Strangers might be a bit easier to show kindness to because it might be for that one time, but our family is forever.
Here’s some kindness ideas to put into practice:
Comfort and help those who need assistance.
Help those who are less fortunate.
Show consideration and kindness through your actions and words.
Show your appreciation by thanking those who do you a kindness.
Help others because it is right, not because it is required.
Show forgiveness to those who have hurt you.
Put others’ needs before your own.
Be a good listener.
Share the kindness of God through your life testimony
Because – One kind act is better than a thousand kind thoughts.
What are some ways people have been kind to you?
