Mother's Day is once a year

As I sit here and think about Mother’s day it brings joy and tears to my eyes.

A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dates all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path.” ―Agatha Christie, “The Last Séance”

I think about when my kids were small and innocent and would do things out of the overflow of love and make such cute cards and gifts that I still have to this day and how much joy that brought to me.  If you are in that stage of your life please enjoy every minute, it goes faster than a rocket and then it’s gone forever.

All of us who are on this earth have one mom, the mom that carried you, birthed you, cared for you, cleaned up your messes and still loved you through it all, if she is still with you then you are Blessed.  As we got older and grew up and became  so consumed with life and your own pursuits we forget about the sacrifices that were made by our mom that you know about or never have known about, believe there is more than you can imagine.  There are times that she was the one not eating so you could eat, not buying a pair of shoes so you could have one, never had a designer purse so she could buy you one. That’s what real Mom’s do, the sacrifice and always put themselves last, while always praying for you first.

So then its now Friday and we  start to think about it or even tomorrow and say “”oh no, it’s Mother’s day, I forgot to get a card” I will email her one or I am so busy I can’t go see her, no matter if you are around the block, hours away or half way across the country.

We think if we buy her something that cost’s a certain amount of money we are covered. We think if we give her a text, we are covered and we wont have to hear anything from her and if we do we can say, I text you, didn’t you get it?

Your Mom is your biggest Cheerleader! No matter how good you are at something or not so good, she’s always there saying you can do this.

My mother said to me, ‘If you are a soldier, you will become a general. If you are a monk, you will become the Pope.’ Instead, I was a painter, and became Picasso. Pablo Picasso

Mom is worth more than a amount of money or a text!  I have always asked my kids as they got older and were saving money for themselves, I just want a heart felt card written out and I have a box of the ones that I have received that I cherish and read to this day.

“Youth fades; love droops; the leaves of friendship fall; A mother’s secret hope outlives them all.”Oliver Wendell Holmes

This Mother’s day take the time to remember something wonderful you and your mom experienced no mater what your relationship is like today and call her and thank her for all the years of care and don’t think of  anything that comes to your mind that’s negative. We all have had trying times with our Mom’s but if you talk to someone who doesn’t have a mom anymore, they would trade it all just for a call to say I love and miss you mom.  Mom’s deserve the same type of forgiveness that they have extended to you all your life. I can’t imagine the day I can’t call my mom and ask her the same questions I ask her every Thanksgiving about her stuffing, it makes her feel needed and special.

There’s no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one.”Jill Churchill

Think of the Blessing of your Mom especially if you are a Mom yourself, you are just getting started on a journey of sacrifice and making some right and wrong decisions for your own children. Let’s give Mom’s a break and show real love not just the TV hallmark kinda of love. Remember your kids will be older one day too, sow the right seeds now and be an example to them. You only have one day a year to be kind, loving and show appreciation to Mom, even though she deserves it all the time.

In the end it all comes down to some quality time and love that’s what Mom’s really want!

Motherhood: All love begins and ends there.”Robert Browning

Don’t forget Mom this Mother’s day, it is only once a year.
